Classroom Connections (9am-10:30am) & Playful Pirates (10:45am-12:15pm)

We will post session offerings for summer in the middle of the spring.

Where: All groups are run at Triangle Presbyterian Church (on Hwy. 54, near Southpoint Mall)

Cost Per 3 Week Session is $240
Cost Per 4 Week Session is $320
Cost Per 5 Week Session is $400

Payment in full is expected on the first day of each session. If you need to set up a payment plan please let us know and we will work with you.

**Important Note: If you are a new family and not quite sure if these groups are for your child and are hesitant to commit to the entire session, please be in touch with us via email or phone and we can help you learn more about what we are offering. We have also been able to offer a 2-Week Trial period for the group without commitment to the whole session's fee (you could pay a week by week fee for two weeks), so if that would work better for you starting out, just let us know!

*December 15 will be a combined 3 hour group for both classes to celebrate the upcoming holidays together with special activities and also provide parents a longer chunk of time to run errands that day!

Where: All groups are run at Triangle Presbyterian Church (on Hwy. 54, near Southpoint Mall)

Cost Per Session:
Session 1 = $320 for the 4 week session (that covers 4 Saturdays of group at 1.5 hour per week).

Session 2 = $400 for the 5 week session (that covers 5 Saturdays of group at 1.5 hour per week).

*Session 3 = $280 (that covers 2 Saturdays of group at 1.5 hour per and 1 Saturday of group at 3 hours).

Basic Group Offering Information

Making Connections offers groups throughout the year for children with social and communication difficulties of various age levels. Each group session's length will vary dependent on holidays and school calendars.

We use a variety of methods to teach and support children including visual structure, schedules, rewards, and transitional cues. These groups are appropriate for children who are able to participate and function in a small group setting with minimal one-to-one support.

Our school year groups are as follows and they take place on Saturday mornings.

Classroom Connections: Preparing for the classroom! This class will focus on developing individualized strategies to help your child learn how to be a productive, active member of a group and/or classroom. The focus of this group will be to work on play sequences and paths, body control and awareness, social conversation and learning finger-plays. A brief snack time will be included during the hour as well, to help facilitate a very natural social time in the day. This group is for preschool aged children 3-5 years old.

Playful Pirates: This group will be focused on taking our group social skills to the next level. Navigating social skills at school (cafeteria, on playground, in class). We will work on being an active member of the group, engaging others in conversation, and sharing interests. A brief snack time will be included during the hour as well, to help facilitate a very natural social time in the day. This group is for elementary school aged children 5-8 years old.

Club Chat: (TBD) Group is designed for children 11-15 years old. Primarily community based with some in-house meetings to plan our community outings. This group has been happening about 2 times per session in recent months. Inquire further for more information.

Our Philospohy

Our group is designed to help children with social difficulties learn how to better navigate their world by enhancing their social, play, language and interpersonal skills.

It is our belief that each child has unique capabilities, talents, and the ability to learn from others. Our groups help children build on existing social skill strengths while providing structured opportunities to develop positive relationships with others.

During group sessions we focus on enhancing a variety of skills such as: social communication, play and cooperative games skills, self-help skills, managing and expressing personal feelings and non-verbal communication skills. Most important we want the children to have fun!

Policies

1. The full fee for a given session is due by the first day of that session unless you have arranged otherwise with group leaders. Payment plans can be arranged, please be in touch.

2. Session Commitment: when you register for a session of our groups we ask for a commitment to the whole session (new families please see info about our trial period).

3. The Absence Policy: if you miss a week of group there is no credit or refund offered. If you let us know planned absences in advance we can work with you to adjust fee up front.

4. Makeup Dates: If you have to miss a week during the session we cannot offer any make up dates for that absence. If we have to cancel group due to weather, we will offer a makeup date.
